A cafe you
have to be
told about.
Coffee from midday, dum biryani at nine, a Sichuan wok in between, and a terrace that nobody wants to leave. Four hundred metres off the main road, past the turn most people miss.
The short version
A cafe that kept a kitchen.
Front of house pulls espresso and Irani chai from midday. Behind it, a kitchen running North Indian gravies, South Indian breakfast, a Sichuan wok and biryani on dum — all through the same six metres of pass.
Which is why one table gets a flat white at four and a mutton biryani at nine, and nobody blinks.
Read the whole thingCoffee, properly
Filter coffee in a steel tumbler, flat whites, an eighteen-hour cold brew, and Irani chai that tastes like the old city.
Biryani to order
Sealed at the order and set on low heat for twenty-five minutes. Put it in before anything else.
Sichuan, hot
Dry red chilli, Sichuan pepper, sesame. It arrived because a cook wanted it and stayed because the room did.
Cocktails & dessert
Espresso martini from the same beans out front, smoked old fashioned, molten chocolate cake.
